The Oath of the Vayuputras

Author : Amish Tripathi

Review:
Finally finished "The Oath of the Vayuputras"... Recommending or smashing is easy, but when something falls into a neutral zone, it gets a little tougher. So here's the verdict: Definitely a good read, but I felt it's a bit too long. And glorification is okay to an extent, but glorifying each and everything looses it's charm. The book ends with Shiva doing the necessary, launching the destructive weapon to destroy the entire setup. But why does he do it, when everyone advises him against doing it. Should the book end with an action taken by Shiva in an act of rage? The end just did not fit in. The book marks the journey of Shiva to the land of Vayuputras to gain their trust and  learn about the knowledge they acquire. It is the turning point where Shiva eventually figures out what evil means. Is evil one person or is evil a system? Is it one person who has to be killed or should the entire system be destroyed to mark a new beginning. All this ponderings are good. But the reason why the destruction is called for is impulsive. The  author seems to be wanteing to tie in the ending of this fictional piece to the mythological event back to complete the loop. A good read though. Go finish the series.
