Ajaya- The roll of the Dice

Author : Anand Neelakantan

Review:
Finished the book "Ajaya-the Roll of the Dice" . Excellent narration and very fast paced book. Entirely different take on the epic where the antagonists are the protagonists and vice versa. Highly recommended, but beware- do not read this book unless you have a fair idea of Mahabharat itself. Else you will get it all wrong . This book was very refreshing read, especially after reading books which ponder into unnecessary complications of human mind - like Yajnaseni, Palace of illusions or books which just seem to narrate the epic bluntly like Arjuna-the warrior prince. This one stands a class apart- Thumbs up !!

The House of Hades, Heroes of Olympus

Author : Rick Riordan

Review:
Finished The House of Hades from Rick Riordan. Review :- Percy Jackson books have lost their charm...I really wish he had not started this olympus series at all. The first 5 were so good...The olympus series is a drag . The House of Hades continues where The Mark of Athena left off. Percy and Annabeth are in Tartarus . There they have to battle many monsters till they reach the doors of Death. The other demi Gods have to fight the monsters on the mortal world to reach the doors from the other end. Percy and Annabeth have to get back to the mortal world through the doors of death and at the same time, not let any other monsters out. The storyline goes on without any direction with the demi Gods fighting eccentric monsters and moving on. Very predictable indeed, finally, they manage to do so. The plot is too dragging.
Not one of the best from Riordan.

Movies : The Twilight Saga Series

Review:
Finally finished the Twilight Saga movies... .Ratings : Everything excellent. It's only the end I faltered a bit...SPOILER ALERT AHEAD : IT's like Harry Potter finally readies his battle with Voldermort and then after some future foreseeing decides they will co-exist peacefully. Anti climax .But still,if you have not already watched the series, go WATCH IT...

Review:
Breezy read , mushy romance on a rainy day nd a hot cup of tea.does put up a broad smile on ur face. If u r a type who liked u have got mail r sleepless in Seattle u will like this book. On flip side I felt too many movie jargons in the dialogues. Don't mind that nd this book is a thumbs up from my end.

Inferno

Author : Dan Brown

Review:If u r subscribed to GoodReads, every Friday there is a question, it is weekend, what will u read ?If u have Inferno in ur mind, please stay away from it. I wasted my whole day today, nd I feel like am preparing for my tenth grade Social, history, biology, chemistry and physics exam together. even that would have been less complex. I used to think Deception Point was his worse, but Inferno makes DP look like a smooth sail ! Sometimes too much intelligence screws things up. that's xactly what happened in this book. Too many concepts, too abstract !

Casual Vacancy

Author : J.K.Rowling

Review:
I guess I could not digest the straight dive from the fantasy world of Potter to the brutal reality of Pagford. It is about a murder of the Parish councillor and the events  after the death. It mainly deals with politics, drugs and prostitution. I found the book too unpleasant. So, from a Harry Potter fan, it's a kind of thumbs down to this book

The Oath of the Vayuputras

Author : Amish Tripathi

Review:
Finally finished "The Oath of the Vayuputras"... Recommending or smashing is easy, but when something falls into a neutral zone, it gets a little tougher. So here's the verdict: Definitely a good read, but I felt it's a bit too long. And glorification is okay to an extent, but glorifying each and everything looses it's charm. The book ends with Shiva doing the necessary, launching the destructive weapon to destroy the entire setup. But why does he do it, when everyone advises him against doing it. Should the book end with an action taken by Shiva in an act of rage? The end just did not fit in. The book marks the journey of Shiva to the land of Vayuputras to gain their trust and  learn about the knowledge they acquire. It is the turning point where Shiva eventually figures out what evil means. Is evil one person or is evil a system? Is it one person who has to be killed or should the entire system be destroyed to mark a new beginning. All this ponderings are good. But the reason why the destruction is called for is impulsive. The  author seems to be wanteing to tie in the ending of this fictional piece to the mythological event back to complete the loop. A good read though. Go finish the series.

TV- Yajnaseni

Plot Review:
For all those mythological lovers, Pratibha Ray's Yajnaseni is adapted as a television serial in Sahara One. Though I personally did not like the book much - felt the book seemed like an epic mills and boon ;so far the settings and screenplay look impressive on television...
